New Opportunities

I have had the fortune to be able to join a local Artisan Cooperative. Our shop is known as the "Little Apple Trading Company" and is located at 217 McCall Rd, Manhattan, Kansas. This is a neat shop for all to enjoy the efforts of some of our local artisans. We offer hand crafted jewelry, Kansas photo art, collage art and more to come - keep checking in the shop as we grow with new artists. This will be a great place to look for excellent Christmas gifts.

I will also be showcasing some of my new designs in the shop as I branch out into new mediums for my jewelry. I have some exciting things planned after the first of the year.

Don't forget to check out Buttons N Bows this Saturday (Nov 13) at the Seven Dolars Church and school. Look for my booth and stop by and say Hi - I will be on the Lucky Stage

Tulip Festival Recap

The Tulip Festival went really well. Thank you everyone who stopped by and said HI. I had an absolute blast and now have the bug to keep doing more shows. Of course this one was in my own back yard so to speak and had no traveling involved. I got to see people I hadn't seen in years and catch up with old friends. Plus, the added bonus of selling some jewelry as well. The festival attendance was great and our small town was all a buzz with people and traffic.

My stall was in a great location on the tennis courts and right next to the fence, which enabled me to anchor my tent to the fencing for added security against the Kansas winds.

I talked to a few of the other vendors that had been there for several years and they said that sales were down quite a bit from last year. Evidently, the economy has finally hit the middle part of the USA. There were a lot of people but every one seemed to be hanging on to their hard earned dollars.

I was satisfied with the sales I made and learned a lot, came up with more ideas to make it easier to track sales, etc.

I already have my application filled out for next year.

Ode to Kansas

I received this as an email and right now it really fits as today's high is only expected to be 2 degrees. Yes, 2 degrees F. with a wind chill of -34.

It's winter in Kansas

and the gentle breezes blow

seventy miles an hour

at twenty-five below.

Oh how i love Kansas

When the snow's up to your butt

You take a breath of winter

and your nose gets frozen shut.

Yes, the weather here is wonderful,

So, I guess I'll hang around

I could never leave Kansas,

My ass is frozen to the ground.

They talk about global warming, so I have come to the conclusion that the polar ice cap has melted and slid down here. I say this every year, but I think I am ready for summer and the 100 plus degrees of Kansas.

Love you all.

Take care and stay warm for those of you in the warmer climates, PLEASE bottle it and send it this way.

Four Letter Word "SNOW"

We had our first dose of the dreaded "four letter word" SNOW today. Knew it was coming sooner or later, but never ready for it. Last week was gorgeous t-shirt weather and yesterday was rain and today rain/snow and cold. The bear in me is ready to emerge - eat and sleep the winter away. I know, I need to slip in some creative time and get some jewelry pieces made. I think I could easily leave the "yellow brick road" behind and move somewhere warmer. Just need to be able to win the lottery and retire. Yea baby - that's the dream.
